Periolase Laser and EOB in General Surgery Uses

  1. Anesthetize the area.
  2. On the ablation setting, encircle the sulcus of the tooth with the Periolase laser. This will loosen the periodontal membrane and periodontal attachments.
  3. Atraumatically remove the tooth in question.
  4. Curette the wound as you normally would.
  5. Flush socket with EOB.
  6. On Hemostasis setting, create the fibrin clot as per the Periolase protocol.
  7. Cover the extraction site with gauge moistened with EOB and gently compress for 2 to 4 minutes.
  8. You may need to replace the gauze 1 or 2 times. Patient should leave your office with a firm, stable fibrin clot.
  9. They would then use EOB as an oral rinse until you see them at post-op.
Note: we have not had a dry socket in our office for well over 7 years.
  10. NO OTHER TOOTHPASTE OR MOUTHWASH SHOULD BE USED DURING HEALING.
  11. If they see a surgeon for extractions or implant placement, they come directly to our office after the appointment. We then repeat steps 6-9 or whatever steps are appropriate.

***The healing sequence is rapid and uneventful.***
